I've been picking and selling mistletoe during the holidays now for nearly 20 years.
When I was about 10 or 11 years old, my brother and I would take it door to door or
stand outside busy shopping malls to sell it. I remember having so much fun, seeing
people smile and spreading holiday cheer.
It become a tradition that endured as I grew. Though as a young man in my late teens
and early twenties, I found that selling mistletoe door to door was no longer amusing to
residents, and shopping centers began to be less tolerant and often didn't allow it. A new method
would be required if my holiday tradition was going to endure.
In 1998, More Kisses Mistletoe was established, and we branded, packaged and distributed mistletoe
to one grocery store and several Christmas tree lots. Success was limited, though during the holidays
even meager earnings are welcomed. During my college years, mistletoe sales waned and faded from my holiday
traditions, though they never left my mind. As I sold electronics on eBay, I'd throw in free mistletoe to
encourage buyers to pick my auction over another's or bid higher. It seemed to work well enough.
After graduating with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from Western Oregon University and an MBA
from Oregon State University, a new thought occured to me, "The internet is a wonderful place for commerce,
then why not mistletoe?" And so it began.
A temporary pilot site was launched in December 2005, which showed promise and was promptly followed by
the launch of MoreKissesMistletoe.com in 2006. Continuous growth and success with MoreKissesMistletoe.com,
led to the purchase and 2010 launch of Mistletoe.com.
I am excited for this new opportunity and hope to bring much cheer and gladness to all who wish to receive it.
